There were more than 100,000 Tigers in the world less than a 100 years ago. Now we think that there are only about 5,000 left. If Tigers kept disappearing at this rate, they would all be gone in 5 years time! There used to be 8 different species of Tiger, but three of them (Bali, Caspian and Javan) are now totally extinct.
Tigers live in lots of different places, from the heat of the jungle in India to the cold of the snow in Russia - but Tigers don't live in Africa, so you would never see Tigers and Lions in the same place, unless you went to the zoo.

new things about them.
There are lots of reasons that Tigers are endangered. One of the main reasons is because there are more and more humans living near to where the Tigers live. This means that the forests are getting smaller and smaller, because the people need to chop down the trees to make villages and to grow crops for food. This means that there is less space for the Tigers to live in and less space for the other animals that the Tigers would eat for food. Because the Tigers have a lot less space to live in, it makes it easier for nasty people called poachers to find them. Poachers will shoot the Tigers and sell their skins for fur coats and rugs. The Chinese believe that the Tiger is a very magical animal, so they kill them and use parts of the dead Tiger to make medicine.
I don't want any more Tigers to be killed for fur coats or medicines, so that is why I am raising money to help save the Tigers and I hope that you would want to help me to.
